Drought Warning Declared
On Friday, December 5th, 2025 NJDEP Commissioner Shawn LaTourette signed an Administrative Order designating a Statewide Drought Warning. More information about the announcement is available here.
Public Hearing for Drought Warning
Please be aware that the NJDEP is holding a public hearing to solicit input on a potential declaration of a Drought Warning. This hearing will be held virtually over Microsoft Teams on Thursday, December 4th at 10:00 AM. Additional information, as well as instructions on how to obtain meeting credentials are available here.
Best Management Practices for Legionella
The Department has published Best Management Practices for public community water systems to better control Legionella. More information is available here.
SOC Waivers for the 2026-2028 Compliance Period
To be considered for SOC monitoring waivers for the 2026-2028 compliance period, systems must complete a Well Vulnerability Survey for each well in use. Systems that do not submit survey(s) by the designated deadline will be placed on quarterly monitoring for all SOCs.
Online Licensed Operator Services Now Available
Online Licensed Operator Services Now Available for:
1. Licensed Operator Exam Application
Exam applicants may now submit applications online. This service allows for faster processing, secure online payment, and status updates via email.
2. Licensed Operator in Charge
Online notification of changes to licensed operator(s) of record for water/wastewater systems. This service can be used in place of submitting a DEP-065 form.

Well Permitting Compliance Advisory
On July 7, 2025 the Department issued a compliance advisory for Well Drillers for permitting requirements for Artificial Ground Freezing Technology. The advisory can be viewed here.
PWS Electronic Reporting Requirements 6/2025 Update
