What We Do

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][info-box-shortcode]The Division of Water Supply & Geoscience (DWSG) actively works to meet the NJDEP’s Priority to Protect New Jersey’s Water. As Priority 2 specifies, safe, clean water is vital to New Jersey’s health, quality of life and economy. The DEP protects this precious resource by preventing pollution, cleaning up contamination, ensuring ample supply and investing in strong infrastructure.

  • Establish monitoring schedules for public water systems for a variety of contaminants, and evaluate water quality data for compliance
  • Provide technical assistance to public water systems to return to compliance after a violation
  • Issue permits for construction of public water system facilities, and review applications for consistency with construction standards
