Description of Proposed Diversion/Disposal:  

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has received an application from Union County requesting approval to convey 0.27 acre of easements and 0.02 acre of land in fee simple from parkland known as the Rahway River Parkway (Block 406/Lot 20, Block 2508/Lot 4, Block 3617/Lot 1, Block 908/Lot 16) to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) in connection with the Morris Avenue (Route 82) Bridge replacement over the Rahway River. As compensation for the proposed diversion/disposal, the County proposes to accept $9,000 in monetary compensation from the NJDOT for the proposed easement and fee conveyances, and an additional $518,640 in monetary compensation for tree replacement.

This application has been classified as a minor diversion/disposal of parkland.  Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.6(c), a public hearing on the proposed diversion/disposal application will be conducted as set forth below.
