Fine particle pollution is also one of the few pollutants that you can actually see.

Diesel engines emit a complex mixtures of air pollutants, composed of both solid and gaseous material. The visible emissions you can see in diesel exhaust are known as particulate matter. These include many carbon particles (also called soot), as well as gases that become visible as they cool. Diesel particulate matter (diesel PM) has been identified as having the potential to cause cancer, as well as many other adverse health effects. In addition to particulate matter, emissions from diesel-fueled engines include over 40 other cancer-causing substances.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section full_width=”stretch_row” el_class=”image” css=”.vc_custom_1678368387790{border-top-width: 10px !important;border-bottom-width: 10px !important;padding-right: 1vw !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 1vw !important;background-image: url(https://deptest.nj.gov/stopthesoot/wp-content/uploads/sites/89/gettyimages-1062570092-scaled-darken.jpg?id=1526) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;border-top-color: #fdb813 !important;border-top-style: solid !important;border-bottom-color: #fdb813 !important;border-bottom-style: solid !important;}”][vc_row equal_height=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1678368156655{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/4″][info-box-shortcode icon=”fas fa-hard-hat” title=”WorkClean: Diesel Modernization Program” buttontitle=”Learn more” buttonlink=”https://deptest.nj.gov/stopthesoot/equipment-modernization-program/”]
