Electric School Bus Program
[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”orange” align=”align_left” border_width=”3″ el_width=”30″ css=”.vc_custom_1664453621247{margin-top: -40px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=””]As Per The New Jersey Electric School Bus Law P.L.2022, c.86 (C.26:2C-8.58 et al.), New Jersey is invested in exploring the betterment of school bus fleets throughout the state by implementing a program designed to encourage and monitor the transition to electric school buses. In each year of funding, at least half of the school districts or school bus contractors selected by the department must operate within an Overburdened Community. Additionally, the department aims to select an equal number of grantees from the northern, central, and southern regions of the State, respectively.
- Northern (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Union, Sussex, and Warren Counties)
- Central (Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Somerset Counties)
- Southern (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, and Salem Counties)
Of the 21,700 school buses registered in New Jersey, over 99% run on fossil fuels. While providing vital transportation services, these buses negatively impact the health of students and residents of the communities in which they operate. To address this issue, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s (NJDEP) Electric School Bus Grant program provides funding to replace diesel school buses with battery-electric school buses per P.L. 2022, c.86.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”” i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-bus” i_color=”orange” i_size=”xs” add_icon=”true”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row_content”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”right”]
