Following a multi-year public engagement process develop plans for the interior, in October 2023, the Department of Environmental Protection, in partnership with the United States Army Corp of Engineers, broke ground on the initial cleanup of the area.
Once the cleanup concludes, ecological restoration projects that improve and expand access while also providing critical flood and climate resilience benefits to the surrounding developed features of the park and the neighboring communities.
Within the interior the park’s future Southern Athletics Hub will be constructed, featuring multi-use athletic fields, along with a variety of courts, where planned sporting, community and other events can take place.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator border_width=”3″ css=””][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text css=””]
