Pocket Presentations

People often have big questions about forests. Can forests help slow climate change? Why do forests need care and management? How can someone tell what kind of tree they are looking at? These are important questions, and many can be hard to answer in just a few sentences. That is why the New Jersey Forest Service created Pocket Presentations.

Pocket Presentations are a series of videos that explain common forestry topics in clear, simple ways. Some videos are more technical for viewers who want extra detail. To make things easier, each video is divided into chapters so viewers can click to the parts they need.

All Pocket Presentations can be found on the New Jersey DEP YouTube channel, and links are provided below. Anyone with questions, or ideas for future topics, can send a message to AskAForester@deptest.nj.gov.

In this presentation we’ll help you understand current climate trends in the state, the building blocks of climate change, how the actions we take now can influence what our future climate will look like, and how we can keep our forests healthy along the way.   To do this we’ll ask the question “What’s carbon got to do with it?”
