Climate Pollutant Reduction (CPR)

The Murphy Administration has embarked on a targeted regulatory reform effort that will modernize environmental laws to Protect Against Climate Threats (PACT). NJ PACT ushers critically needed changes to our air emissions and environmental land use regulations, to enable government, businesses, and residents to effectively respond to current climate threats, and reduce future climate damages.

Clean Energy Compliance Options for EGUs

The Department held a general stakeholder meeting on March 22, 2023, at 9:00am to consider a potential rulemaking to allow electric generating units (EGUs) to utilize clean energy options to meet its compliance obligations, which the Department hopes will encourage the development of clean energy, ensure reliability, and curtail leakage as the State strives to meet its 80×50 goal.
