[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”2020 HAB Summit” tab_id=”2020-hab-summit”][vc_column_text]As part of the Governor’s Harmful Algal Bloom (HABs) Initiative , DEP hosted two regional summits to share information and receive feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders including: government officials ( local, state, federal), lake and other environmental commissions, watershed associations, environmental nonprofits, businesses, academics, and lakes management and HAB treatment experts.

In addition to presentations and discussion related to HAB science, monitoring, response, management, treatment and communication, attendees had the opportunity for more in-depth discussions on topics such as funding opportunities, stormwater outfall mapping and HAB monitoring and testing equipment with staff at resource tables.

The first Summit was held on January 28 at the Pequest Natural Resource Education Center (Oxford, NJ) with a total of 75 attendees. Sixty-seven (67) attendees were present at the second Summit on February 4 at the Rutgers EcoComplex (Bordentown, NJ).
