Since 1954, the New Jersey Clean Air Council has advised the DEP on air quality matters.

The NJ Clean Air Council consists of 18 members, 14 of which are appointed by the Governor. Members serve four-year terms, and include representatives of the Commissioners of Health, and Community Affairs; and the Secretaries of Agriculture, and the NJ Commerce Commission’s Board of Directors.
