To guide future water resources management, the 1981 Water Supply Management Act requires the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to develop and update the NJ Statewide Water Supply Plan (Plan). The final version of the 2024 Plan is now published and serves to update and replace the 2017-2022 Plan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It presents updated water supply data, reflects the most current and best available science and for the first time assesses water supply challenges resulting from climate change. Hyperlinks to individual Plan chapters are found below.<\/p>\n Additionally, NJDEP has also developed a new interactive website that outlines key information from the Plan for specific audiences, including residential users, water professionals, and others to summarize key Plan topics, such as climate change and environmental justice.<\/p>\n 2024 NJ Statewide Water Supply Plan Story Map Collection<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”col-12 col-xl-10 mx-auto”]In accordance with the Water Supply Management Act, DEP released a draft version of the proposed Plan in February of 2024, collected public comment through April of 2024, held two public meetings during the public comment period both online and in person, and invited written comments on the draft Plan, all to allow additional public comment.
