Since the turn of the century, the Fish Code has provided a system for the protection, propagation, introduction and conservation of freshwater fish, turtles and frogs in this State and for their use and development for public recreation and food supply. Biennial revisions of season dates, creel limits and other regulations based on scientific investigation and research ensures the greatest likelihood of success in reaching these goals.

Proposed amendments include: Trout Season Dates, Fish Health Testing Requirements, Stocking of trout within the Pequest River Drainage, Use of trout as bait in the Pequest River Drainage, Commercial and Recreational Harvest of Snapping Turtles, Trout Stocked Waters, Crossbows for Bowfishing, Striped Bass and Hybrid Striped Bass Regulations (freshwater), Channel Catfish, and process for freshwater compliance with Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC) plans.

The proposal is scheduled to be published in the New Jersey Register dated October 5, 2015. A copy of the proposal is available from: https://deptest.nj.gov/rules/wp-content/uploads/sites/70/proposals/20151005a.pdf; the Bureau of Freshwater Fisheries 1255 County Route 629 Lebanon, NJ 08833 or calling (908) 236-2118, LexisNexis free public access to the New Jersey Register, https://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/njoal/).

A public hearing(s) concerning the proposal is scheduled as follows:

November 10, 2015 at 7:00 pm
NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife
Assunpink Conservation Center
East Branch – Eldridge Road
Assunpink Wildlife Management Area
Robbinsville, New Jersey 08691

Written comments may be submitted electronically by December 4, 2015 at https://nj.gov/dep/rules/comments/; or
In hard copy to:

David Chanda, Director, Division of Fish and Wildlife
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
Mail Code 501-03
2016-2017 Fish Code Comments
Division of Fish and Wildlife
P.O.
