{"id":1332,"date":"2021-10-12T15:07:50","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T19:07:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/rules\/?page_id=1332"},"modified":"2023-03-20T09:35:30","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:35:30","slug":"20160516a","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/rules\/notice-of-rule-proposal-archive\/20160516a\/","title":{"rendered":"20160516a"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>NJ DEPARTMENT of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION<\/b><br \/>\nNATURAL AND HISTORIC RESOURCES<br \/>\nDIVISION OF FISH AND WILDLIFE<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notice of Rule Proposal<br \/>\n<\/strong>Terrapin Regulations, N.J.A.C. 7:25-21.1<\/p>\n<p><strong>PUBLIC NOTICE<\/strong><br \/>\nTake notice that the NJ Department of Environmental Protection is proposing to amend sections of N.J.A.C. 7:25-21, in order to prohibit the taking, catching, possession, exposure for sale, or attempt to catch or take diamondback terrapin.\u00a0 The Department has determined that diamondback terrapin populations in New Jersey are under duress, and that the harvest of adult diamondback terrapins reduces populations that are already at risk due to predation, motor vehicle mortality, and habitat alteration.\u00a0 Closing the diamondback terrapin season will help to curtail the excessive adult mortality to which diamondback terrapin populations are extremely sensitive.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal is scheduled to be published in the New Jersey Register dated May 16, 2016.\u00a0 A copy of the proposal is available from: the DEP website, <a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/rules\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/proposals\/20160516a.pdf\">https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/rules\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/proposals\/20160516a.pdf<\/a>; and the LexisNexis free public access to the New Jersey Register, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lexisnexis.com\/hottopics\/njoal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.lexisnexis.com\/hottopics\/njoal\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A public hearing concerning the proposal is scheduled as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Monday, June 13, 2016 at 6:00 P.M.<br \/>\nStafford Township Municipal Building<br \/>\n260 East Bay Ave.<br \/>\nManahawkin, NJ<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Written comments may be submitted electronically by July 1, 2016 at <a href=\"https:\/\/nj.gov\/dep\/rules\/comments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/nj.gov\/dep\/rules\/comments\/<\/a>; or<br \/>\nIn hard copy to:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Alice A.
