A statement of the substance of the proposal follows: The proposed 2022-2025 Fish Code, N.J.A.C. 7:25-6, states when, by what means, at which locations, in what numbers, and at what sizes, freshwater fish may be pursued, caught, killed, or possessed. Since the turn of the century, the Fish Code has provided a system for the protection, propagation, introduction and conservation of freshwater fish in this State and for their use and development for public recreation and food supply. Biennial revisions of season dates, creel limits and other regulations based on scientific investigation and research ensures the greatest likelihood of success in reaching these goals. The Fish Code governs when, by what means, at which locations, in what numbers, and at what sizes, fish may be pursued, caught, killed, or possessed.

The proposal is scheduled to be published in the New Jersey Register dated March 15, 2021. A copy of the proposal (PDF) is available from: Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) website https://deptest.nj.gov/rules/wp-content/uploads/sites/70/proposals/20210315a.pdf; LexisNexis Customer Services at (800) 223-1944 or https://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/njoal/. Be advised that there may be a fee for obtaining a copy of the proposal from some sources.

A virtual public hearing(s) concerning the proposal is scheduled as follows:

Fish Code Public Hearing
Thursday, Apr 22, 2021 7:00 PM (EDT)

Please join my meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone.
https://www.gotomeet.me/GeorgeMiragliuolo/fish-code-public-hearing

You can also dial in using your phone.
United States: +1 (872) 240-3212

Access Code: 692-725-637

Written comments may be submitted electronically by May 14, 2021 at https://deptest.nj.gov/rules/comment-on-dep-rulemaking-2/; or

In hard copy to:

ATTN: (DEP Docket No. 03 –21-02)
NJ Department of Environmental Protection
2022 Fish Code Comments
Division of Fish and Wildlife
Lisa Barno, Assistant Director
Mail Code 501-03, PO Box 420
Trenton, NJ 08625-0420

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]NJ DEPARTMENT of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION NATURAL AND HISTORIC RESOURCES DIVISION OF FISH AND WILDLIFE AND FISH AND GAME COUNCIL Notice of Rule Proposal Fish Code N.J.A.C. 7:25-6 PUBLIC NOTICE Take notice that the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Fish and Game Council is proposing amendments to N.J.A.C. 7:25-6, the Fish Code.
