Description of Proposed Diversion\/Disposal:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has received an application from Union County requesting “after the fact” approval for the 2010 diversion of 0.016 acre of the County’s Rahway River Park for the purpose of expanding an existing underground sewer line easement held by the Township of Springfield to accommodate emergency repairs to the Township’s sewer main.\u00a0 As compensation for the proposed diversion, the County proposes to accept $10,000 in monetary compensation from the Township.<\/p>\n

[Note:\u00a0 The attached map depicts the diversion area and the portion of Rahway River Park in which it is located.\u00a0 However, the area marked on the map as “compensation area” is not part of the final compensation proposal for this application.]<\/p>\n

This application has been classified as a major diversion\/disposal of parkland.\u00a0 Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.11(e), a final public hearing on the proposed diversion\/disposal application will be conducted as set forth below.<\/p>\n
