Proposed Action:\u00a0 <\/strong>In accordance with N.J.S.A. 13:1D-51 through \u201358, the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection (\u201cNJDEP\u201d), through its State Parks, Forests, and Historic Sites Program and Office of Transactions and Public Land Administration, will hold two public hearings to seek comments on a proposed new lease agreement for the Liberty Landing Marina located within Liberty State Park.<\/p>\n

The proposed lessee, SMI LL, LLC, an affiliate of Suntex Marinas Investors, LLC (collectively, \u201cSuntex\u201d), is the current Marina tenant.\u00a0 As explained in further detail in the report linked below, the NJDEP seeks to enter into a new lease with Suntex in order to (1) facilitate replacement of the Park’s 3,510-foot linear bulkhead along the Morris Canal Basin (at an estimated cost of at least $60 million) and (2) facilitate the development of recreational facilities by the NJDEP on an eight-acre lawn area currently leased to Suntex.<\/p>\n
