At DiDominico Park, a 700-foot-long stretch of waterfront was transformed from a rocky beachfront property with no public access into a fully accessible site through the construction of an elevated eight foot wide boardwalk and a sandy kayak access. <strong>Total Project Cost $1,800,026, Matching Grant Award $900,013.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1198 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/125\/bayonne.jpg\" alt=\"\u2022 Bayonne: Veteran\u2019s Park and DiDominico 16th Street Park - Bayonne, NJ\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/bayonne.jpg 659w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/bayonne-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Newark City<\/strong> \u2013The project will expand the Newark Riverfront Park, including new paths and trails for walking and running, renovated riparian habitats, landscape buffers and gardens for stormwater management and recreation, places to sit and relax, scenic overlooks oriented toward key views, and an outdoor theater. <strong>Total Project Cost<\/strong> <strong>$48,826,000, Matching Grant Award $17,962,000<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Borough of Carteret<\/strong> \u2013 The project implemented Phase II of the Carteret Waterfront Marina. Floating docks, boat slips, a floating wave attenuator, a breakwater, and installation of wave screen along the existing steel pier, along with a new parking lot and other associated marina amenities were constructed. The Marina opened to the public on May 1, 2019. <strong>Total Project Cost $13,176,100, Matching Grant Award: $6,588,055.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1201 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/125\/carteret-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\u2022 Carteret: Carteret Waterfront Marina - Carteret, NJ\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/carteret-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/carteret-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/carteret-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/carteret.jpg 1430w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Borough of Carteret<\/strong> \u2013 Carteret Borough is constructing two new sections of the Arthur Kill Walkway originating from the Carteret Waterfront Park and Marina. The elevated boardwalk is part of a planned 5-mile pathway that will provide scenic riverfront views. <strong>Total Project Cost $13,352,080, Matching Grant Award $6,676,040.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Passaic County and City of Passaic<\/strong> \u2013 Working with the Trust for Public Land, the County and the City improved public access to the Passaic River waterfront at Dundee Island in Passaic City. The newly renovated park was designed for flood resilience, and includes walking trails, an outdoor auditorium, playground, splash pad, and field house. <strong>Total Project Cost $11,423,000, Matching Grant Award $5,000,000.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1202 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/125\/passaic-city-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\u2022 Passaic: Dundee Island Park - Passaic, NJ\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/passaic-city-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/passaic-city-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/passaic-city.jpg 1018w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>City of Garfield<\/strong> \u2013 Garfield City is constructing a new section of a riverfront walkway along River Drive that includes a multiuse path, playground, gazebo and a small earth berm to protect the safety of visitors while maintaining a picturesque view of the river. <strong>Total Project Cost $2,741,186, Matching Grant Award $1,370,593.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Town of Harrison<\/strong> \u2013 Harrison acquired a 6.9 acre site on Cape May Street in order to construct a new waterfront park. <strong>Total Project Cost $3,450,000, Matching Grant Award $1,725,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Middlesex County<\/strong> \u2013 The County constructed a new waterfront esplanade on a brownfield site in Perth Amboy, which is part of the new Thomas Mundy Peterson Park. <strong><strong>Total Project Cost $2,709,945, Matching Grant Award $1,354,972.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1205 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/125\/perth-amboy-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Middlesex: Thomas Mundy Peterson Park - Middlesex, NJ\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/perth-amboy-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/perth-amboy-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/nrr\/perth-amboy.jpg 860w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bergen County<\/strong> \u2013 The County, in partnership with the Passaic River Rowing Association (PRRA), constructed a new rowing center in Riverside County Park in Lyndhurst.
