{"id":2494,"date":"2026-01-15T16:11:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T21:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/?page_id=2494"},"modified":"2026-02-18T09:42:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T14:42:57","slug":"potential-restoration-project-submission-portal","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/potential-restoration-project-submission-portal\/","title":{"rendered":"Potential Restoration Project Submission Portal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row full_width=&#8221;stretch_row&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span data-contrast=\"auto\">In order to improve transparency and enhance public engagement regarding the development and implementation of natural resource restoration projects, the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) issued <span style=\"color: #0059bb\"><a style=\"color: #0059bb\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/dep-ao-2023-08-natural-resource-restoration-policy.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Administrative Order\u00a02023-08<\/a> <\/span>in 2023, which affirms the NJDEP\u2019s duties as trustee for the State\u2019s natural resources and directs the Office of Natural Resource Restoration (ONRR) to develop and maintain a repository of potential natural resource restoration projects for public viewing.\u00a0 Potential projects will be included in the <span style=\"color: #0059bb\"><a style=\"color: #0059bb\" href=\"https:\/\/experience.arcgis.com\/experience\/304507d5bd514878bfba3c25e1e3399e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Project Viewer<\/a><\/span>. \u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ONRR\u00a0invites\u00a0the public\u00a0to recommend potential\u00a0restoration projects.\u00a0These projects may be considered for funding if they provide\u00a0appropriate restoration\u00a0to\u00a0satisfy\u00a0injuries.\u00a0\u00a0They also help the Department understand local restoration needs and inform Department planning efforts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What types of projects would\u00a0be considered?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In broad terms, restoration projects help to offset\u00a0damage\u00a0to injured natural resources. Projects can restore,\u00a0replace\u00a0or rehabilitate injured or lost natural resources and the services that they provide. Examples of restoration projects include:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Habitat Restoration or enhancement<\/li>\n<li>Wildlife habitat connectivity<\/li>\n<li>Land acquisition\/preservation<\/li>\n<li>Green Infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Public Access\/Recreation Improvement<\/li>\n<li>Stream Daylighting<\/li>\n<li>Dam removal or fish passage<\/li>\n<li>Coastal Resilience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Types of restoration projects that will not be considered include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Projects outside of New Jersey<\/li>\n<li>Projects that do not benefit injured resources<\/li>\n<li>Projects that are only recreational based<\/li>\n<li>Projects that are required by statue, regulation, court-ordered or other regulatory requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If you would like to submit a potential restoration project, ONRR has created the Potential Restoration Project Submission Form where you can recommend restoration projects for consideration by ONRR. The form also has fields where you can upload supporting documents, plans or photographs.\u00a0\u00a0Prior to submitting a project, please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/nrr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/125\/potential-restoration-project-submission-questions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0059bb\">Potential Restoration Project Submission<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0059bb\">Questions<\/span><\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to ensure you have all required information available\u00a0to complete the form.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A key requirement for all projects is the Property Owner Certification Form. This form identifies the parcels of land where the restoration project is proposed and the corresponding property owner(s). Each property owner must sign the form and also indicate if they would like to have the project depicted in the ONRR Project Viewer. Property owners can also indicate that they are in support of a project but prefer not to have the restoration project publicly displayed. Please allow for 2-3 business days to receive a response. The posting of a project on the potential project viewer does not guarantee the project will be selected for restoration or funding. ONRR may also contact you to discuss a project. ONRR may periodically reach out and ask that you update any submitted project to ensure that projects are up to date.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Potential restoration projects will be visible in the project viewer.
