Preserve Info<\/h2>\n

Once the bustling mansion grounds of the Richards Family, iron masters of the Weymouth Furnace, this property is now a pleasant woodland along the Great Egg Harbor River. Woodpeckers hammering out nest cavities now replace the constant ringing of iron forge\u2019s hammers of long ago. Historic landscape trees including bald cypress and sugar maple, remnant of the mansion\u2019s manicured grounds, can still be discovered growing within a younger forest. Donated by Marian Trescher Waldhausen in 1993 and named for her father John Henry Trescher, the 202-acre property is assured lasting protection. This once important regional industrial center adds to the significance of protecting these beautiful woods along the banks of the Great Egg Harbor National Wild and Scenic River.<\/p>\n

Public Access and Uses<\/h2>\n

Parking for hikers can be found across Route 559 at the Weymouth Furnace Atlantic County Park near the intersection with Route 322. Un-maintained trails follow the Great Egg Harbor River along the roadway, which leads to the mansions ruin. The Trust allows registration for bow hunting only only at this preserve.<\/p>\n
