The project offers a long-term solution to the vehicle-caused mortality threatening a significant local population of amphibians that must migrate across Waterloo Road to reach their nearby vernal breeding pond each spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Improvements include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Construction of four (4) specialized amphibian tunnels beneath Sussex CR 604 &#8211; Waterloo Road<\/li><li>Installation of guide fencing on both sides of the road to intercept and funnel amphibians towards the tunnels<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PROPOSED PROJECT LIMITS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sussex County Route 604 &#8211; Waterloo Road, MP 0.81\u00b1 to MP 1.02\u00b1<\/li><li>Vicinity of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.njparksandforests.org\/parks\/allamuch.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Allamuchy Mountain State Park<\/a> <i class=\"fa-regular fa-arrow-up-right-from-square\" style=\"color: #2c51b3\"><\/i> and Waterloo Village Historic Site<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Design Development Phase Completion: Summer 2021 <br>Final Design Completion: 2023<br>Construction Completion: 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PUBLIC INFORMATION &amp; COMMENTS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The NJ Division of Property Management and Construction, in conjunction with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and our design consultant,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nv5.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NV5<\/a> <i class=\"fa-regular fa-arrow-up-right-from-square\" style=\"color: #2c51b3\"><\/i>, held a virtual Public Information Center (PIC) on May 4, 2021 to provide local residents, businesses and stakeholders with information on the Waterloo Road Amphibian Crossing Project and to offer an opportunity for comments and questions.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/njfw\/PIC_Waterloo_2021-05-04_FullPresentation.pdf\"><strong>PIC Presentation<\/strong><\/a> <i class=\"fa-solid fa-file-pdf\" style=\"color: #dc3545\"><\/i><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pb1CdWZlX4o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>PIC Recording<\/strong><\/a> <i class=\"fa-brands fa-youtube\" style=\"color: #dc3545\"><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A final Public Information Center was held virtually on May 18, 2023, followed by a two week comment period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/dpmc-waterloo-pic-final-presentation-2023-05-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Final PIC Presentation<\/strong> <i class=\"fa-solid fa-file-pdf\" style=\"color: #dc3545\"><\/i> <br><\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jFDTXIQ5YIA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Final PIC Recording<\/a><\/strong> <i class=\"fa-brands fa-youtube\" style=\"color: #dc3545\"><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/dpmc-waterloo-pic-comments-summary-2023-06-05.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Summary of Public Comments and Responses<\/a> <i class=\"fa-solid fa-file-pdf\" style=\"color: #dc3545\"><\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For further information, please contact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MacKenzie Hall, Biologist<br>NJDEP Fish and Wildlife<br>Endangered and Nongame Species Program<br>P.O.
