Retention and Reactivation (R3) is a national initiative among Fish and Wildlife agencies, industry leaders and non-government organizations to focus on increasing participation in fishing, hunting and shooting sports. Recruitment encourages new participants to try the activity. Retention engages current participants to continue the activity and participate more frequently. Reactivation motivates lapsed participants to return to these outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is done through new innovative programs and workshops, improved management of wildlife species and habitats, as well as developing a conservation stewardship all funded through the <a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/conservation\/wildlife-and-sport-fish-restoration-program\/\">Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/angler-r3-plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Jersey&#8217;s Angler R3 Plan<\/a> <i class=\"fa-solid fa-file-pdf\" style=\"color: #dc3545\"><\/i> outlines strategies to increase participation in fishing in New Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">R3 Fishing Links<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/education\/fishing-education-instructor-program\/\"><strong>Fishing Education Instructor Program<\/strong><\/a><br>NJF&amp;W\u2019s Fishing Education Instructor Program are volunteer anglers who want to share their passion for fishing with others at workshops, events and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/fishing\/freshwater\/new-angler-resources\/\"><strong>Angler Resources<\/strong><\/a><br>Information and how to videos to help you get started and expand your fishing knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fishing Programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First Catch Center at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery<\/strong><br>In partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.takemefishing.org\/how-to-fish\/fishing-resources\/first-catch-centers-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Recreational Boating &amp; Fishing Foundation<\/a> <i class=\"fa-regular fa-arrow-up-right-from-square\" style=\"color: #2c51b3\"><\/i>, the First Catch Center, offers beginning fishing workshops for families and women at the hatchery, as well as species specific workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s Go Fishing<\/strong><br>Workshops are held throughout the state teaching the basics of fishing, so you\u2019ll be able to fish on your own.
