ATTENTION CANADIAN AND OTHER NONIMMIGRANT ALIEN HUNTERS!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives<\/a> (ATF) has regulations requiring all nonimmigrant aliens who temporarily import firearms or ammunition into the US to first submit an ATF Form 5330.3A<\/a> (PDF). For information, see the ATF site linked above or phone 800-800-3855, or 202-648-7777.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information regarding hunting regulations, requirements, seasons and other topics is available in the current Hunting & Trapping DIGEST<\/a> (published in August). Digests are available at Fish & Wildlife offices<\/a>, license agents<\/a>, through the mail by request<\/a> (non-residents only) and on-line<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Jersey hunting licenses expire on Dec. 31 regardless of when purchased; there is also a Non-Resident 2-Day Small Game License which can be used for waterfowl in addition to other small game (except turkey). Licenses are available at license agents<\/a> and on-line<\/a>. For use of a muzzleloading rifle, a NJ Rifle Permit is required in addition to the basic firearm hunting license<\/strong>. The Rifle Permit is required to purchase and use a Permit Muzzleloader Deer Season permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To purchase a NJ hunting license it is necessary to document possession of a previous year’s resident license (from any state) or hunter education course completion.<\/strong> Nonresidents also have the option of obtaining an Apprentice License<\/strong><\/a> (some limitations apply) if they have a licensed New Jersey hunter to serve as their “mentor”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Jersey has an impressive amount of public land open to hunting<\/a>. We welcome hunters from outside New Jersey and think you’ll find our numerous seasons and often liberal bag limits appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nonresident hunters should be aware of New Jersey’s strict firearm laws.<\/strong> For information on transporting firearms into the state visit the NJ State Police website at www.nj.gov\/njsp\/firearms\/transport-firearm.shtml<\/a>. Contact the State Police for further information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
