Smith&#8217;s 1904 book about mosquitoes which influenced legislation in 1906 and 1912 leading to statutory mosquito control in each county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The need for efficient and effective mosquito control has only increased with the emergence and spread of additional mosquito-borne illnesses as well as the spread of<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov\/terrestrial\/invertebrates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invasive mosquito species<\/a><\/strong>, such as <em>Aedes albopictus<\/em> and <em>Aedes japonicus<\/em>. Control efforts are now also contending with the effects of climate change on mosquito populations.
