Igor was diving off the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gypsyblooddive.com\/\">Gypsyblood Dive<\/a>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<a href=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/shark_river.pdf\">Shark River Artificial Reef&#8217;s USS Algol<\/a>&nbsp;when he landed the 22 pound, 2 ounce fish.<br>\nThe new record bluefish &#8211; spearfishing measured 38.375 inches in length.\n            <\/td>\n\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">\n            <\/td>\n         <\/tr>\n\n         <tr>\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\n            <a name=\"cobia\"><\/a>\n            <strong>State Record Cobia (Spearfishing)<\/strong><br>\n            <br>\n            NJDEP Fish and Wildlife announced that Joe Cunningham of Cape May Courthouse made his way onto the state spearfishing record fish list recently by landing a new state record Cobia on August 11, 2019.<br>\nJoe was free diving off Sea Isle City when he got the fish. The fish weighed 74 pounds, 5 ounces and was 14 pounds, 5 ounces pounds more than the previous record. The new record cobia measured 56 inches in length and had a girth of 29 inches.\n            <\/td>\n\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">\n            <a href=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/reccobia19-spear.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8766\" style=\"width: 200px\" src=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/reccobia19-spear.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/a>\n           <a href=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/reccobia19-2spear.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8766\" style=\"width: 244px\" src=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/reccobia19-2spear.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/a>\n            <\/td>\n         <\/tr>\n\n         <tr>\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\n            <a name=\"fluke\"><\/a>\n            <strong>State Record Fluke (Spearfishing)<\/strong><br>\n            <br>\n            The NJDEP Fish and Wildlife has officially certified the first entry into the new Spearfishing category in the State Record Fish Program.<br>\nRobert A. Davis of Bamber Lake, New Jersey, speared the state record fluke (summer flounder) on August 4, 2014, just five days following the&nbsp;initiation of the new Spearfishing category. The fish weighed in at 15 pounds 5 ounces which exceeded the set minimum weight of 12 pounds. The fluke is also being recognized as a World Record by the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iusarecords.com\/\">International Underwater Spearfishing Association<\/a>&nbsp;(IUSA).<br>\nThe exceptional specimen was harvested near Barnegat Lighthouse in 20 feet of water.\n            <\/td>\n\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">\n            <a href=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/recfluke14spear.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8766\" style=\"width: 200px\" src=\"\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/recfluke14spear.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/a>\n            <\/td>\n         <\/tr>\n\n\n         <tr>\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\n            <a name=\"winterflounder\"><\/a>\n            <strong>State Record Winter Flounder (Spearfishing)<\/strong><br>\n            <br>\n            Jared Smith of Wildwood, NJ made his way onto the state spearfishing record fish list recently by landing a new state record winter flounder on July 21. Jared was scuba diving off the boat, the Dina Dee, located on the shipwreck R.P. Resor. The fish weighed 3 pounds, 8.2 ounces and beat the old record by 1.2 ounces. The new record winter flounder measured 19.25 inches in length and had a girth of 15.25 inches.\n            <\/td>\n\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-center\" data-align=\"center\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/new-state-record-saltwater-spearfishing-winter-flounder-jared-smith-2025-09-25-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8766\" style=\"width: 200px\" src=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/njfw\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/new-state-record-saltwater-spearfishing-winter-flounder-jared-smith-2025-09-25-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/a>\n            <\/td>\n         <\/tr>\n\n\n         <tr>\n            <td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">\n            <a name=\"sheepshead\"><\/a>\n            <strong>State Record Sheepshead<\/strong><br>\n            <br>\n            Dan Street of Hainesport made his way to the top of the state spearfishing record fish list by landing a new state record Sheepshead on July 15, while free diving in the Atlantic Ocean. The fish weighed 13 pounds, 3 ounces, beating the old record by 11 ounces. It measured 26 inches in length and had a girth of 23 7\/8 inches. Jeff was spearfishing from a boat when he got the fish.
