Black Rail eDNA Survey

The Black Rail is an endangered and federally threatened avian species in New Jersey. NJDEP Fish & Wildlife Endangered and Nongame Species Program biologists are now experimenting with a new technique to locate this extremely rare bird by collecting environmental DNA (eDNA) samples in the field.
