Here is what you need to know:
A Seasonal Management Area is a designated zone where vessels 65 feet or longer must follow mandatory speed limits to help protect the endangered North Atlantic right whale.
They cover key areas along the Mid-Atlantic coast, including waters off the Delaware Bay and the New York–New Jersey Bight.
Speed restrictions reduce the risk of vessel collisions with migrating whales and help protect these critically endangered animals.
