NJ Certifies a New Record Winter Flounder Caught Spearfishing

The NJ DEP Fish & Wildlife has announced that a new record winter flounder was caught while spearfishing in July.

Jared Smith of Wildwood, NJ made his way onto the state spearfishing record fish list recently by landing a new state record winter flounder on July 21. Jared was scuba diving off the boat, the Dina Dee, located on the shipwreck R.P. Resor. The fish weighed 3 pounds, 8.2 ounces and beat the old record by 1.2 ounces. The new record winter flounder measured 19.25 inches in length and had a girth of 15.25 inches.
