Shell Recycling Program – Shell Drop-off

Shell Recycling Program – Shell Drop-off

Got Shell?

If you enjoy eating oysters and clams at home, you can help enhance natural oyster reefs simply by recycling your shells!

The Shell Recycling Program (SRP) collects thousands of bushels of shell each year from participating restaurant partners. However, more shell is needed to further expand the program. Previously, the SRP had no way for the public to participate in shell recycling efforts outside of eating at partnering restaurants. We’ve developed several public drop-off locations for those consuming shellfish at home to discard shells for reuse in oyster reef enhancement work.
