In July, the NJDEP Fish & Wildlife’s Artificial Reef Program staff deployed a new addition to the Little Egg Inlet Reef (N 39°28.307’ W 074°11.546’).
The 200-foot barge, No. 199, was sponsored by the Beach Haven Charter Boat Association and their Junior Mates Program and further supported by the Sport Fishing Fund, NJDEP’s partner 501c3 organization.
This deployment will become home to more than 150 marine organisms including black sea bass, tautog, summer flounder, lobsters, crabs and mussels.
