Certified Deer Tracking Dog Information

Certified Deer Tracking Dog Information

Need a tracking dog for your deer or bear hunt?

NJDEP Fish & Wildlife has created the Certified Tracking Dog Program, where dogs and trainers who pass approved blood tracking proficiency exams are issued permits to track deer and bear in New Jersey.

Hunters can find a local tracker that services the county they are hunting in with the new Find a Local Certified Tracker Application .

Trackers can now apply for their permits online, though checks must still be sent in via mail or drop off to 1 Eldridge Rd, Robbinsville, NJ 08691. Information can be found in the links below. Dogs must be permitted in order to legally participate in a track. Dogs may not be used for any other deer or bear hunting purpose aside from blood tracking.
