{"id":722,"date":"2022-10-04T12:38:47","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T16:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/grantandloanprograms\/?page_id=722"},"modified":"2025-08-19T08:36:31","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T12:36:31","slug":"natural-climate-solutions-grants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/grantandloanprograms\/natural-climate-solutions-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"Natural Climate Solutions Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>PURPOSE OF FUNDING<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Natural Climate Solutions Grant program will fund on-the-ground implementation of projects that create, restore, and enhance New Jersey\u2019s natural carbon sinks, such as salt marshes, seagrass beds, forests, urban parks and woodlands, and street trees in order to meet New Jersey\u2019s climate, clean energy, and equity goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION <\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/climatechange\/mitigation\/ncs-grant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/climatechange\/mitigation\/ncs-grant\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE<br \/>\n<\/strong>Rolling<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTIFICATION DATE<br \/>\n<\/strong>Within 120 days after submission<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOURCE OF FUNDING<br \/>\n<\/strong>Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) auction proceeds<\/p>\n<p><strong>STATUTORY CITATION\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nN\/A<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO IS ELIGIBLE\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants eligible to apply for funding under this Notice of Funding Availability include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>State, county, and local government units within New Jersey, including State government agencies or school boards;<\/li>\n<li>New Jersey universities and colleges;<\/li>\n<li>Interstate agencies of which New Jersey is a member;<\/li>\n<li>Private landowners owning property in New Jersey (note: private property project must provide 25% matching funds);<\/li>\n<li>Nonprofit organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code authorized to operation in the State of New Jersey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR CONSIDERATION\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThere are two initiatives for the investment of DEP\u2019s carbon sequestration funding: Promoting Blue Carbon in Coastal Areas and Enhancing Forests and Urban Forests (Green Carbon). Eligible types of blue carbon projects include Living Shorelines, Restoring Tidal Flows in Tidal Wetlands, Tidal Salt Marsh Vegetation Restoration. Eligible green carbon projects include Forest Restoration and Urban Forest Canopy and Water Quality Enhancement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GRANT LIMITATIONS\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nGrant funds will be awarded on a reimbursement basis upon submission of a completed expenditure report with supporting documentation.
