{"id":408,"date":"2022-08-10T11:27:26","date_gmt":"2022-08-10T15:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/grantandloanprograms\/?page_id=408"},"modified":"2025-03-17T15:53:41","modified_gmt":"2025-03-17T19:53:41","slug":"technical-assistance-grants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/grantandloanprograms\/technical-assistance-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"Technical Assistance Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong>PURPOSE OF FUNDING\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nTechnical Assistance Grants (TAGs) provide funding to nonprofit community groups to employ independent Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) to perform activities designed to help improve the community\u2019s understanding of the environmental conditions at, and remediation of, a contaminated site.\u00a0The bulk of the TAG funds must be used to hire an independent LSRP as a technical advisor to help interpret and comment on site related documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/deptest.nj.gov\/srp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/39\/tag_application.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Application Form<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nRolling, subject to the release of funding from the Remediation Guarantee Fund<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTIFICATION DATE\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nTBD, contingent upon availability of funding<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOURCE OF FUNDING\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nRemediation Guarantee Fund<\/p>\n<p><strong>STATUTORY CITATION\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nSite Remediation Reform Act (N.J.S.A. 58:10C), N.J.A.C 7:26C-10 ARRCS, and related Executive Order #140<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHO IS ELIGIBLE\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nNon-Profit Community Groups<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR CONSIDERATION\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nOne or more members of the community group must live in the neighborhood in which the site is located. The community group must be incorporated or in the process of incorporating. The community group can be either a non-profit or in the process of obtaining 501(c)3 status. However, the community group can also affiliate with a local organization that has obtained 501(c)3 status as a non-profit organization for the specific purpose of representing the community. The community group must be able to demonstrate that it has reliable procedures for record-keeping and financial accounting in managing the TAG. The community group must have a commercial bank account. The community group must not include, or be associated with, any person responsible for conducting the remediation of the site. The community group must not have been established by, or presently maintained by, any person responsible for conducting the remediation of the site. The community group must not be affiliated with a national organization that has direct or indirect control over the community group. The community group must not be an academic institution. The community group must not be a political subdivision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GRANT LIMITATIONS\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nTAG funds are available to community groups during the Remedial Investigation (RI) phase and the Remedial Action (RA) phase of a cleanup of a contaminated site. DEP will award a maximum of $10,000 for a single RI and a maximum of $10,000 for a single RA. DEP will not award a TAG to more than one community group at any one time for any contaminated site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION PROCEDURES<\/strong><br \/>\nThe review process is internally conducted by the Manager of the Office of Community Relations.
